Mr Muthu Jeyam is a Consultant Shoulder & Upper Limb Surgeon at Hope Hospital, which is a Manchester University Teaching Hospital. After his preliminary medical qualification of MBBS Mr Jeyam did his initial surgical training in southern England and obtained his FRCS.
Mr Jeyam subsequently did full time research in Manchester. He won an award for the best research presented at the British Orthopaedic Research Society (B.O.R.S) meeting. Shortly after this he was duly awarded the research degree of M-Phil.
Mr Jeyam then completed his higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery from Manchester for which he was awarded the Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma & Orthopaedics. |
Mr Jeyam has been a dedicated fellow in learning the art of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery from the prestigious Nottingham Shoulder & Elbow Unit. He has also gained valuable experience from a further travelling Fellowships at The Harvard Shoulder Service and The Boston Sports Injury Service, Boston, Massachusetts and San Antonio Texas, USA.
Mr Jeyam’s clinical work comprises predominantly of Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery (key hole surgery). His clinical practice includes management of patients with sports injuries to the shoulder and arm. In addition he performs open surgery including joint replacement surgery.
In addition to the above-mentioned research he has been involved in clinical research work and has had publications in major peer-reviewed journals. He has presented his work in national & international meetings. Mr Jeyam is a member of the British Shoulder & Elbow Society (BESS), the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the North West Upper Limb Group (NWULG).
